As a local you know as well as I do that most day’s we avoid the tourist corridors on the weekends. Well I am certainly happy we made an exception last night and headed to Downtown Las Vegas to check out Backstage Bar and Billards to see MARAGOLD (Greg Howe – Guitar, Meghan Krauss – Lead Vocals, Kevin Vecchione – Bass,Dan Conway – Drums.)
The news of the legendary “shred era” guitarist Greg Howe’s appearance spread quickly and the house was packed with ALL Star guests from the local music scene for Maragold’s Las Vegas debut event produced by Traci Smith, “Rockin’ Las Vegas.”
“Howe” who is best known for his rock / fusion instrumental recordings has worked with a myriad of performers including pop stars such as Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Enrique Iglesias, NSYNC, and Rihanna but has been playing since he was 10 years old and got his first big break when he sent a demo tape to Mike Varney, ( Shrapnel Records) in 1988 in hopes of being featured in Varney’s feature column in Guitar Player magazine.
In addition to having to having a legendary guitarist as one of it’s members Maragold is packed with talent!! I’ve shared with you before my love for female power vocalists and high energy Bass players well this girl has it! Megan Krauss delivered and the Bass solo from Kevin Vecchione & Drummer Dan Conway brought me to me feet!! Add the magic of Greg Howe to the mix and well that’s just smart money!
Maragold’s debut self-titled album, Maragold is available for purchase on their website www.maragoldband.com
Keep up with Maragold on Facebook for upcoming appearances!
If you haven’t been to Backstage Bar and Billards it’s a nice “local friendly” addition to the east end of Fremont Street. Nice stage, comfortable environment, and really great service. Keep an eye out for a band you like to be playing there and check it out!
