LAS VEGAS — Visitors seeking toil and trouble should look no further than Las Vegas to celebrate month-long Halloween fun. Known as the destination that fully embraces adult freedom, there is no better place to indulge in Halloween revelry. The destination enchants with spooktacular events, parties, costume contests, seasonal fun and more.
NIGHTMARE ON LAS VEGAS BLVD
The Zombie Escape at The LINQ Promenade is the site of a zombie apocalypse, where the undead scare the living in a nightmarish realm. The Zombie Escape, open select nights until Oct. 31, is complete with blood-curdling sights, spine-tingling screams and delightful frights. In addition, The LINQ Promenade will host a spooktacular Halloween celebration Oct. 27-29 with décor, live music, zombies, drumline and costume contest. The High Roller Observation Wheel will cast a spirited glow over the entire spectacle, lit in Halloween colors.
Jean Philippe Pâtisserie at Bellagio and ARIA Resort & Casino features 45 festive showpieces, made from cake, chocolate and other frighteningly delicious bites. The displays include a 200-pound, six-foot-tall zombie, a showgirl zombie and more.
Superheroes and villains will be at home in the Marvel universe CosBash 2016 at Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. at Treasure Island Las Vegas. Guests are encouraged to come in costume, with best dressed winning prizes, including a chance to meet comic legend Stan Lee.
HOUSES OF HORRORS
One of the nation’s top haunted attractions is returning for the 14th annual scare-fest. Fright Dome at The Adventuredome at Circus Circus brings to life the most terrifying, twisted and interactive experience ensuring visitors will sleep with the lights on. In addition, Circus Circus will feature six haunted mazes, scare zones and showings of “Friday the 13th” in the F/X 4-D Theater and motion-based “Panic House” in the Extreme Ride Theater. Thrill-seekers can take in the fear select nights until Oct. 31.
Nightmares become reality at the Freakling Bros. Horror Shows’ “Trilogy of Terror” haunted houses, located west of the Strip near the Grand Flamingo Center. The four houses, “Coven of 13,” “Castle Vampire,” “Gates of Hell” and “Freak Pass,” are some of the most traumatizing and horrifying in Las Vegas. In addition, Asylum & Hotel Fear at Meadows Mall takes patrons through a terrifying series of hospital rooms. Both are open throughout the month of October.
OktoberFrightFest combines the best of October; Oktoberfest and Halloween. The month-long festival takes place at Fremont Street Experience with live performances from “Frank & The Steins” on the 1st Street Stage and seasonal-inspired light shows choreographed with timeless musical delights. In addition, more than 30 breweries will come together for the Sixth Annual Fall Beer Festival at Golden Nugget. Taking place Oct. 9-10, the festival will also have live entertainment, culinary offerings and more.
A weekend of Halloween festivities is in store at Downtown Container Park’s Halloweekend. From Oct. 28-31, the downtown hot-spot offers pumpkin decorating, scary stories, live bands, costume contests and screening of classic Halloween movies.
Sin City Halloween will also be taking place in Downtown Las Vegas at the Fremont East Entertainment District from Oct. 28-29. Weekend events include a costume party, car show, parade, parties and more. Special guests knowledgeable in various scary topics will also be attending the event for a unique Q&A, including actors George P. Wilbur and James Winburn; Chuck Klenus and Bryan Williamson from the Nevada Paranormal Task Force and more.
Ghouls and goblins run amok at Opportunity Village, a Las Vegas non-profit that serves children and adults with intellectual disabilities through vocational training, community employment, day services, advocacy, arts and social recreation. The annual tradition transforms the Magical Forest into HallOVeen. The festivities will include The Haunted Adventure, Cheyenne’s Enchanted Carousel, Forest Express Ghost Train, Rod’s Monstrous Mini-Golf, nightly entertainment, the Candy Cabin, scary movies and tasty treats. The enchanting forest is open Oct. 14-31, with proceeds benefiting more than 3,000 people in the community with intellectual disabilities.
Shopping mecca Town Square becomes Town SCARY on the evening of Oct. 31 with costume contests, the Undead Maze, carnival rides and other treats.
The spooking continues at Springs Preserve’s Haunted Harvest. The creatures of the night will come out to play in the haunted maze, carnival games, live entertainment and more. Haunted Harvest is open weekends in October.
THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT
Those who do not fear the night can take in the thrilling nightlife with hair-raising DJs. Creative revelers donning costumes can win thousands of dollars in costume contests at various nightlife hot spots.
The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will enchant revelers at the annual Fetish & Fantasy Halloween Ball on Oct. 29 while Vanity Nightclub party-goers adorn parachute pants and bust out the moon walk during the Everything 80s Party the night of Oct. 28.
The nightclubs at Wynn and Encore will be home to “Wynnderland,” a modern twist on “Alice in Wonderland,” with top-ranked XS hosting Alesso, Skrillex and Diplo, Oct. 28-3; and Surrender thrills with a surprise special guest, RI Grime, Dillon Francis and Marshmello, Oct. 26-31.
DJ Eric Dlux kicks-off Halloween weekend at TAO Nightclub at The Venetian with a costume contest, and one creative winner could pocket $5,000. The party continues with French Montana performing his top hits, Oct. 28-29.
LAVO Las Vegas at The Venetian will host a heaven and hell-themed party brunch with guests enjoying the indulgent brunch items, champagne and DJ with a Halloween twist.
The ghastly weekend lineup at Drai’s Nightclub at The Cromwell kicks off with Fetty Wrap featuring Monty, Future, 50 Cent with DJ Franzen and ends with T.I., Oct. 28-31.
OMNIA at Caesars Palace continues the Halloween spirit with Calvin Harris and Martin Garrix, Oct. 28-29.
Devils and angels, vixens and reynards, monsters, aliens and everything in between can party over 50 stories up, over-looking the glittering lights of the Vegas Strip at Heaven & Hell at Moon Nightclub at the Palms Las Vegas, Oct.29.
The fun continues at Hakkasan at MGM Grand Las Vegas with adult tricks and treats from Kim Kardashian West, Tiësto with Dzeko & Torres and Calvin Harris with Generik, Oct. 28-30. Recently-opened JEWEL Nightclub at ARIA Resort & Casino celebrates the eerie holiday with Steve Aoki and Puff Daddy, Oct. 28-31.
Mandalay Bay’s LIGHT Nightclub relives the glory days with Haunted Homecoming as DJ Mustard takes the booth on Oct. 26. Forbidden Ball rounds out the weekend-long events with DJ Mustard, J. Cole and Disclosure, Oct. 28-31.
Festivities continue at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas with the chilling DJ lineup at Marquee Nightclub for the Vegas Horror Story: FreaQfest celebration featuring Cash Cash, Carnage and Galantis, Oct. 28-13.
Also at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Marquee Dayclub Dome, Vegas’ only daytime winter pool party, will kick off the season Halloween weekend with Eric Prydz and DJ Vice, Oct. 29-30.
PARANORMAL AND ABNORMAL
The annual Sea Monsters Revealed at Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino turns the world’s largest exhibition of sea creatures into an eerie display. Using plastination, guests are able to see the outside and inside of ocean inhabitants including an 18-foot, 3,000-pound whale shark, 15-foot-long mako shark and giant sunfish, and 18 other full-body creatures of the sea. The exhibit is open until Oct. 31.
Take in Las Vegas’ most active paranormal sites after dusk on the Haunted Vegas Ghost Hunt. Using ghost-hunting equipment, the tour visits five locations known for their popularity among spirits from the other side, sinister and not.
A short distance from Las Vegas lies a forgotten and abandoned mining town known as Goodsprings. The Goodsprings Ghost Hunt transports the curious to the former city where deceased miners and murder victims tell their gruesome stories, leaving tour-participants sleeping with the lights on.
