Las Vegas Celebrates Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID)


global-meetings-industry-dayThis April 14, help us celebrate the first Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) during which leaders from all sectors of the meetings and events industry will showcase the industry’s widespread impact on communities worldwide.
As North America’s No. 1 convention destination for 22 consecutive years, the meetings industry’s significance for the Las Vegas community is undeniable as our resorts host nearly 22,000 meetings, conventions and incentives programs annually
ranging in size from 10 to 150,000 attendees.
In 2015, convention delegates accounted for 13.4 percent of all visitors to the region, nearly 5.9 million visitors in all! The meetings industry has an overall economic impact of $9.3 billion in Southern Nevada.
Beyond Las Vegas, in 2012, the meetings industry contributed $280 billion to the U.S. economy, employed nearly 1.8 million Americans, and generated $88 billion in tax revenues for a total of $234.6 billion.
