The Las Vegas music community and KISS music fans raise over 28 thousand dollars to support the IMAGINE Foundation.
On August 29th the Las Vegas KISS Army descended upon Vamp’d Vegas with two things on their mind, to “Rock n Roll All Night” and raise money for the IMAGINE Foundation and the kids!
The IMAGINE foundation is a local Las Vegas non-profit organization, founded by Lisa Goulston to help fund the music departments in Clark County Schools with the focus on putting instruments in the hands of students with a desire to learn to play.
The house was filled with Love for the music of KISS performed by a host of local musicians with fans “Dressed to Kill” in their best KISS makeup and gear.
Started in 2012, KISS Night in Las Vegas is a non-profit project founded to raise awareness and funding for struggling public school music departments. All proceeds from this event go to the Imagine Foundation, which supplies musical equipment to Las Vegas area public schools. The event has grown each year over the past 4 years and has quickly become a local tradition produced by K. Caruso, Morpheus Blak, Shon McKee and Stoney Curtis. Funds for the foundation were raised from ticket sales, raffle ticket sales and sales of the KISS Night Las Vegas album Vol. 1. The album is EPIC!
“There’s no auto-tune on this, there’s no fake anything. Everything was played with real musicians and real instruments. We have so much talent here in Las Vegas. Everyone on the album is a Las Vegas resident and has taken part in KISS Night “, Stoney Curtis.
In August we featured Stoney Curtis, one of the KISS Night Las Vegas founders, on the cover of the magazine. During our interview we asked Stoney why KISS? His reply “KISS music transcends.” We couldn’t agree more. It’s the music we love and grew up listening and most of us cut our teeth on.
It was one of those “Crazy Crazy Nghts” in Sin City if you didn’t get a chance to join us you can still re-live the magic. The LIVE stream video replay is available on the KISS Night in Las Vegas website and you can still purchase the album. Proceeds from album sales will still benefit the IMAGINE Foundation.
From Leah Burlington:
The 4th annual KISS Night was a mind blowing eight hours long with over 35 different local Las Vegas musicians playing onstage for a good cause. The cause is for the Imagine Foundation, which purchases musical equipment for the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, with all proceeds going to that charity.
This album is dedicated to all the amazing people behind KISS Night, between the guys that created the KISS album of covers that was on sale for the event. That was Stoney Curtis, Johnny Roxx, Kaye Caruso and Morpheus Blak, thanks for all their hard work on that awesome CD.
In the current economic climate in our city, as in most cities; when budgets are being trimmed and/or cut, the funds for the arts are oftentimes the first to be cut or completely eliminated. Most public schools have the grand challenge of thinking outside the box on a regular basis in order to keep the art programs alive for their students, let alone in an economic downturn. We feel the need as a community to reach out to these kids to make sure they are able to keep these programs intact. One of the ways Imagine is helping these students is to hold a musical event once a year to showcase local talent as well as bring in some well-known acts and ask for gently used or new instruments as well as monetary donations to benefit schools around the Las Vegas Valley. Imagine is now a 501 (c) (3) NP corporation which allows for federal tax exemption, enabling us to obtain larger donations which translate to more support for our kids. We believe every child should have the opportunity to follow their passion and Imagine is here to help with that. The support from our community as well as the Las Vegas music community has been nothing short of magical! We look forward to the growth of Imagine and God willing, hopefully other communities will follow suit … Imagine that!
